The chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was
allegedly found with 500 permanent voter cards (PVCs) at his residence
in Benin, Edo State.
The finding engaged in bloody clash supporters of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP.
The incident began when the PDP chief was caught trying to use someone’s ATM card to make withdrawal at one of the new generation banks and was detained by security personnel who later took him over to the police.

According to Leadership, the policemen took him to his residence
to search the place and when they got there, 500 PVCs were found in his
room.
He supposedly confessed the PVCs belonged to a House of Representatives candidate from Edo Central.

While the APC in the state asked the suspect to be transported
immediately to the state Police Command in Benin City, some PDP members
insisted that the suspect be left off the hook.
The news caused outrage among Nigerians.
One resident wonder: “I really believe in Jonathan but what exactly is wrong with the PDP?”
Other said that INEC chairman must be sacked because of such incidents:
“You see why Jega should be sacked? The man cannot even supervise the distribution of registration cards. How do you think he will manage something as sensitive as ballots?”

“And that is the reason why Jega has introduced the use of card reader which the PDP is trying all they can to cancle to perfect their rigging plan,” he added.
It should be noted that the senatorial candidate of the APC in Edo state, Chief Francis Inegbeneki, has recently accused PDP of buying PVCs from elderly people.
The main electoral body, meanwhile, said that PVC distribution nationwide is at 76 percent.
