Boko Haram Leader Escapes From Raided Hideout In Kaduna

A suspected Boko Haram leader escaped from his hideout in Kaduna on Wednesday night, March 18, that was raided by security operatives for hours. According to The Punch, the suspected Boko Haram member, who was said to be on the run from Maiduguri, Borno State, together with his wife escaped through a make-shift escape route, covered with thick painted cartons, which looked like the fence of the house.
Reportedly, a combined team of the Nigerian Army, Department of State Service and the men of the Nigeria Police Force spent long hours raiding the building housing the suspected Boko Haram leader at the 4, Fulani Road in the Ugwan Dosa area of Kaduna State. It was learnt that the building has been rented by the suspect, one Mallam Muhammed Mai Borno, last year. The owner of the property has been taken away by security agencies for further interrogation. According to a resident of the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the suspect (Muhammad Mai Borno) actually moved into the house last year with the wife. The neighour also said that “when the suspect was asked about his children, he said they are in school somewhere in the North-East. “We discovered that he is always travelling and we never suspected any foul play until we started hearing gun shots in the night,” the source added. Another resident, Usman Ahmed, said security operatives arrived the area around 12 midnight and within a few minutes, the area was cordoned off, followed by sporadic gun shots. The Public Relations Officer of the One Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna, Col. Abdul Usman, simply said he had yet to be briefed by the operation officer.
