World Cup Qualifier: Nigeria defeat Swaziland 2-0




Goals from Moses Simon and Efe Ambrose ensured that Sunday Oliseh's side recorded an hard fought victory over Swaziland in Port Hacourt.


The Eagles who had started the match on a bright note, had several opportunities to open the scoring in the first half through England based Striker Odion Ighalo.

Despite the numerous chances accumulated by the Super Eagles of Nigeria, the first half ended goalless much to the disappointment of the home support.

The Nigerian side however came back much stronger and determined as they broke the deadlock in the opening minutes of the second half, through a sublimely taken free kick by Belgium based Moses Simon.

The game was looking likely to end 1-0 in favour of the Super Eagles before Efe Ambrose who plies his trade with Celtic FC of Scotland tapped in a second goal in the 85th minute to send the Nigerian support into jubilation.

Recall that Rivers State governor had promised a reward of $20,000 to the team for each goal scored by the Super eagles

The result of the match qualifies Nigeria for the next round of the FIFA world Cup scheduled for Russia in 2018.
