160 Houses Destroyed As Communities Clash In Kebbi

The incumbent Governor of Kebbi state, Saidu Dakingari has called on communities, politicians, traditional and religious leaders in the state to always embrace dialogue as it is one of the means of resolving crises in their domains.
The governor made the call yesterday, March 16, while addressing communities in Shang Local Government Area, where a clash between Fulanis and their hosts led to the destruction of over 160 houses.

The governor said; “One life was lost and one other person was hospitalized in the clash. Also, nine motorcycles, bags of grains, clothing, household materials, livestock and many houses were set ablaze”.

He expressed sadness about the crisis, which was caused by a disagreement between the Fulanis and their host communities in three villages of Tungar Maaji, Shafaci and Sente.
Dakingari, who spoke in Fulfulde, appealed to Fulanis not to revenge, but to forgive those who perpetrated the act.

He however donated N1 million to the Fulanis to cushion the effect of their suffering. The governor also visited Sakace village, also in Shanga Local Government Area, over a fire incident which occurred last Monday.
