Shettima intervenes on the Detained Al Jazeera Journalists

The crisis that involved detention of two Al Jazeera journalists in Nigeria, Ahmed Idris and Ali Mustafa, may be coming to an end.
This has been confirmed by KSM News, a Facebook page used by the administration of Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state for publishing press releases of various kind.

According to the recent statement, posted in the afternoon of April 4, 2015, Saturday, the two journalists “have regained their freedom”.
The reporter and the cameraman have been relocated from their hotel  to a Government lodge in Maiduguri. The decision was reportedly made after the intervention of the governor.

The official confirmation from the international broadcaster is still awaited at the time of filing the present report.

It would be recalled that the two journalists were detained by the Nigerian military in their hotel on March 25, 2015, Wednesday.
The move sparked controversy both in and outside Nigeria. Al Jazeera has intervened, urged the Nigerian authorities to release their staff. However, their appeal was ignored. This made them to make a second step and initiate a lawsuit against Kenneth Minimah, the chief of army staff.
