The Nigerian army today, March 2, has said it has defeated Boko Haram insurgents in Kukawa Geri, a community in Gujba local government area of Yobe state.
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) via its official Twitter account said soldiers have taken control of the community.
The DHQ also stated that cordon and search operations are continuing in the area.
In the past weeks, the Nigerian army has reclaimed several communities under the control of the Boko Haram terrorists. Inspector general of police, Suleiman Abba, visited some of the recaptured areas including Mubi and Baga.
The army has also said that the six-week operation which led to the shift of Nigeria’s general elections have so far been effective.
