Vandals killed six NSCDC operatives in four months – CG

The Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence ‎Corps, Dr. Ade Abolurin, has  blamed vandals and saboteurs for the poor power supply in the country, noting that six NSCDC personnel have been killed by vandals from January till date.
Abolurin, who said this during a security meeting with officials of Ministry of Power and the representatives of Private Electricity Owners in Abuja on Thursday, added that the vandals killed the officers, who were protecting gas pipelines.

The NSCDC boss said the meeting was necessary to discuss ways on how to stamp out the activities of vandals, who destroyed public infrastructure for pecuniary reasons.
He said, “From January to this month (April), about six officers were killed in the line of their duties while protecting the pipeline.
“‎The terrain where these pipelines are installed has made it hard for our officers to effectively secure them. Vandalism is presently a cartel business. We need to team up so as to effectively address the problem.
“The problem we face require a complementary and collaborative effort. The stakeholders need to find a way out of the problem.”
