Morning Teaser Can you pay N3m as bride price?

The issue of bride price differ in many parts of the country. While some tribes give out their daughters practically free, others make the suitor pay through their noses. Is this right?

"Dear Pulse,
My name is Kunle. I work with an oil company in Port Harcourt and though I am not as rich as many people think, I am quite comfortable.

I am in love with a lady from the eastern part of Nigeria. She means the world to me and I love her so much. We met at an international student exchange programme in the UK when we were pursuing our Masters degree.
We are so much in love and have decided to get married but the snag here is that the marriage rites list her family gave me when we went for the introduction seems as if they want to sell their daughter.
Everything including the traditional marriage will amount up to a whopping N3.2 million naira.
It is not as if I cannot pay the bride price but my family have kicked against that. My father told them categorically that we are not going to pay that much but my woman's family are insisting on it.
I want your readers to help me out here.
Kunle,
Port Harcourt."
Dear Pulse readers, what would be your advice to Kunle on Morning Teaser today? Do you think he should go ahead and pay the bride price?
